The installation, Lens of Surveillance, from the 14 days to go exhibition showcases the architectural structure of the current Old Melbourne Gaol and surrounding RMIT buildings. Drawing inspiration from the Old Melbourne Gaol's original watchtower, this circular layout invites visitors to step into a position of authority that "We can see you, but you can't see us." From this vantage point, guards had a one-way view of the prisoners, reinforcing the dynamics of control and surveillance. Through this Lens of Surveillance, visitors are invited to explore and interact with the Old Melbourne Gaol's history by accessing the AR creations to uncover the original 20th-century functions of each site and take a look into the daily lives of its inmates.
